UTF-8 Encoder

How each byte is shown: hexadecimal, binary, or decimal.

Case of the hexadecimal digits.

Character placed between each encoded byte.

Literal prefix for every byte.

UTF-8 is the text encoding. Byte representation changes only how its bytes are displayed. The prefix is literal text, not a change of encoding, and applies to every representation.

Example for “€” with the current representation, HEX case, separator and prefix:

\xe2\x82\xac

Convert text to its UTF-8 byte sequence.

Input and limitations

Any text. Each character is encoded to its UTF-8 bytes.

Check the selected options before using the result. Formatting and conversion do not establish that data is safe or suitable for your application.

How to use UTF-8 Encoder

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Choose a byte representation; the text encoding remains UTF-8.
  3. Set the separator and optional literal prefix for every byte. HEX letter case applies only to Hexadecimal.
  4. The example and result update with your options.
  5. Use the copy button to copy the result.
  6. Click Clear to empty the input and output; your options stay selected.
  7. Your separator and prefix text are kept.

Example

In hexadecimal byte representation, A is 41 and é is C3 A9. UTF-8 can use multiple bytes per character.
